Dr. Mehmet Toner, Director of Research, will join us virtually from the Boston hospital.

About the Speaker
Dr. Mehmet Toner
Director of Research
Mehmet Toner, Ph.D., is the director of research at Shriners Hospitals for Children — Boston. He is also a Helen Andrus Benedict Professor at Harvard Medical School and the director in the BioMEMS Resource Center at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH).
Dr. Toner serves as the director of research at Shriners Hospitals for Children — Boston and has an active research program in burns and thermal injury, biopreservation and clinical diagnostics. He oversees the Micro-Nano Shared Facilities. The work from his group and others using the tools developed in the Shared Facilities are now under evaluation for clinical use.
Dr. Toner’s research projects include mechanisms of thermal injury to cells and tissues, tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, bioartificial liver and skin, stem cell therapies in injury, microfluidics and nanotechnology for diagnosis and fundamental biological studies in burn injury, trauma and clinical medicine.
Dr. Toner has over 350 papers with an h-index of 96 and five papers cited over a 1,000 times. He has been funded by Shriners Hospitals for Children, NIH, NSF, DOD, the Whitaker Foundation and multiple industrial outfits.
