Nobles,
On January 11, when I was Installed as Potentate of Tigris Shrine, I never thought I would have to make decision that could impact the health and well-being of our members and their families. What I expected was focusing on the financial and future of Tigris. Now with the current concerns and newly adopted recommendations and rules put out by our State and County Officials I do have to make decisions that will impact the health of our members and the finances of Tigris Shrine.
The Shrine office will remain open to conduct Tigris business but will not welcome any visitors. If you have business that needs to be addressed, please CALL or Email the office. Our Recorder along with a large percentage of our membership are part of the most at-risk population. The Shrine Center will remain closed through March 27, when we will reevaluate any changes in recommendation from the CDC and local health offices.
The impact of this closure will be financial for the most part. The good news is our budgeted numbers for bingo have been surpassed weekly since the first of the year. We have been able to pay bills and to provide donations to the Daughters of the Nile for their help during bingo operation. I will continue to be updated not only by the daily meetings for my job but via contacts at the state health agencies level.
In the time of closure your Divan will hold a meeting to discussion operations to make sure we are prepared for what comes next good and bad. The information discussed during the meeting will help me make decisions and to help keep Tigris on the best path going forward.
With so many cancelations, much of the traveling that Lady Suzanne and I would have been doing has been cancelled or postponed. This is not what we had hoped for the 2020 year. Please keep in mind the work of a Shriner is never done if there is a child in need. Lady Suzanne is looking forward to thanking those that have donated to her First Lady’s Lego Project in person and hope to see the continued support from you all this year.
In closing, please keep washing your hand and contact your primary care doctor if you have any symptoms (fever, cough, runny, nose or difficulty breathing). I will continue to reach out to you all via email and posts on our website. God bless you all and God bless Tigris Shriners.
Fellowship, pride, charity
